Twine wrapped Monogram Letter

Home Decor, Cards, Layouts, Kids Crafts...this new Doodlebug Chunky Twine is perfect for any of those!  It has the look of your traditional twine but is thicker which makes it easier to work with on projects like the one I'm sharing today!

Now I know what you're thinking, holy moly Christine that had to be really messy and sticky to make!  But I'm happy to report with this new Chunky Twine a job like this is a lot less challenging!

I started with a chipboard monogram letter.  I then used a quick dry liquid adhesive and worked on about an inch at a time.  I have attempted this before with traditional sized twine and embroidery flosses and it was a mess with sticky glue everywhere that pretty much ruined the project.  Not the case here!

After I finished wrapping it I secured the back side with some additional glue and tape.  Then it was time to decorate!  I used some flowers from the Spring Garden Craft Kit as well as some various Flower Doodlepops!  Sweet little Ladybug Sprinkles added a different texture and upped the cuteness!

You can't go wrong with a Butterfly Doodlepop like this one!  It got it's own little special spot on the Monogram.

Our family is going to be moving to a new home soon and I just know this will be a perfect piece for my little girl's brand new bedroom!

Bible Journaling - Trust in the Lord

It is so relaxing to do Bible Journaling during stressful times!  I love searching for a verse to create with that hits home!  As our family is currently packing up for an out of state move, there's a whole lot of trusting in the Lord happening.  So Jeremiah 17:7 felt like the perfect verse to capture my mood and serve as a reminder as I open up my Bible!  Stamps from SRM Stickers were the perfect medium to create with.

I like to journal on some sturdy cardstock and insert it by the verse in the Bible - I know lots love to do the margins - I just have a different approach :)
After creating my background using watercolor paints, I used a combination of stickers and stamps to write out the verse.  The Big Faith stamp supplied both the word "Blessed" and my stitching border.

I used the Words of Faith Stamp set for my crosses.  The solid black hearts come from the Life is Good stamp set and the others are punched out of patterned paper.  I have to mention how great the Black Le Pen is for this type of project - I used it for all my outlining and it works beautifully!
SRM will be releasing a whole bunch of new Bible Journaling stamps soon - so make sure to stay tuned for those!

Big Changes

I have been a little quiet here lately and thought I'd share why.  In April my husband received a call to serve a congregation in Central Ohio.  After prayerful deliberation he felt the Lord was leading him to accept it.  So after eight wonderful years in Central Illinois we are packing up our family to move. When I started dating my husband he was a Pre-Seminary Student so I always knew that divine calls and moving would be part of our life together.  We are very excited for this new adventure and also sad as we say our goodbyes.

Our kids took the news as you would expect.  The older two were sad but also have been very open to God's hand and knowing that this is what he has planned for our life.    They had their last day of school yesterday and things got even more real for all of us.

With this move comes a big change for our family.  We will once again be homeowners!  We chose a home in a smaller town to help make the adjustment a little easier on the whole group (we currently live in a town of about 100).  The house is about the same size as our parsonage but a completely different set-up so we have been doing lots of purging!

We will have our last Sunday here on June 12th and be completely moved out on the 15th.

As you can imagine that means paper crafting has taken a back seat.  I am continuing to do my Social Media and Design Team Coordinator positions with My Creative Scrapbook and Paper House Productions.  And I am actually trying to keep up with my deadlines for Doodlebug Design, My Creative Scrapbook, SRM Stickers, and Paper House Productions.  I know I won't sit down and relax otherwise and those deadlines ensure I will take some "me" time.  I am not getting anything done beyond that though and don't foresee that happening before July.  So in the meantime the blog will be a little sparse - but you know I will be back - we've already got a designated Scrapbooking Room in the new house!

Summer Kids Craft

It's the first day of summer in our houset and it's always nice to have a few crafts stashed away to do with the kids! Today I have a quick and simple craft that you can make using the Original Tube and White Heart Lace Doilies.

All you have to do to create this is connect the bottoms of the heart doilies and then adhere those to the back of the tube!  Fill it up with candy of your choice! Easy Peasy!

Of course adding some googly eyes and a little smile up the fun factor!  Wouldn't this be a quick and easy treat for your kids or to do as party favors at a birthday party!?!

The Crafting Kits are a newer addition to the Paper House Product line and come with cardstock stickers and patterned papers making it easy to create multiple layouts from it.  Add in some of the 3D Stickers which coordinate perfectly and you've got some added dimension!

The 3D stickers come in a variety of shapes and include words also.  I like to use them both for title work, subtitles, and embellishing throughout the layout!

Graduation Card

Graduations are right around the corner and SRM Stickers has stickers that are perfect for customizing your cards to fit the colors of your school!  It's been awhile since I have made cards - I had fun with this graduation card using Graduation Stickers by the Dozen and the Year of Memories/2016 stickers. With these two sets you can easily make a whole bunch of graduation cards to take along to each party!

The stickers are clear and black so they work perfectly for personalizing with things like or sequins, cardstock, or even some Sticker Stitches!

I added the biggest 2016 I could in the center and at an angle to up the whimsy!

The Stickers by the Dozen make it easy to add lots of caps to the card.  I used a circle punch to punch it out so I didn't have to try to place my sticker to precisely.

We're looking forward to seeing what cards and treats you are making for the grads in your life!

Main Kit Layouts for My Creative Scrapbook Kit Club

This month's Main Kit from My Creative Scrapbook featured a lot of pieces from the Bloom Collection from Crate Paper as well as some various odds and ends.  I loved the colors featured in the collection and had fun playing with it!

This first one I poured my heart into.  I don't enjoy documenting sad memories but I also don't want to forget some of those times.  This past February our dog of 14.5 years passed away.  It was a brutal week in our family filled with lots of tears and emotions.  I know through it though that my kids learned some important life lessons.

I loved the stickers in the kit - they were puffy and shiny and oh so fun!  Perfect for creating this text filled circle!

You can't go wrong with a quilted look and the chevrons on the patterned paper in the kit worked perfectly for adding a twist to it!

I wanted to work a little boy layout into this kit and I think I achieved it well with this silly layout!  I added lots of doodling to the ruffles and some enamel dots to play up the whimsy!

Creative Kit Projects for My Creative Scrapbook

My family and I are in the process of getting ready to move out of state - so bear with me for awhile here as I am in and out of blogging!  Today I wanted to pop in and share with you the projects that I made using the May Creative Kit from My Creative Scrapbook!

'
The kit contains a string of silver beads.  I cut it up and used them individually on this layout.  It was not as tedious as it sounds ;)

Can't get enough of fringe these days!

Love the coral in this collection and took advantage of it for this birthday picture!

There's lots of neat patterns in the kit and I wanted to use as many as possible!  And the stickers and chipboard and....such a fun kit!
