Published Card from Create Magazine

Last week I shared with you a layout that I had published in Create Magazine as part of the Paper House Productions Design Team and today I have a card to share!

This card was based on a sketch provided by the magazine.  I used ColorWays Noir including the accent pack and rub-ons to create it.  I fussy cut the feathers out of some patterned paper and then lined them up.  Since they were all a little different in size I tried to be fairly random about it (other than the color pattern).  I cut out applied the "Awesome" letters to a grid patterned paper.  Then topped the whole thing off with more rub-ons, die cuts, and doodling :)

Supplies Used:
Rubons: PaperHouse Productions
Patterned Paper: Paper House Productions
Die Cuts: Paper House Productions
Cardstock: Core'dinations

Scrapping Our Stash Blog Hop

I am the tail end of the Blog Hop this month so if you are just starting here, you will want to go on back up to the beginning!  Each month a group of paper crafters gets together and vows to create from our stash and only our stash!  We then share with you what we created!  We've got a fabulous mix of designers and giveaways so you won't want to miss any stops along the way!

Here's the entire list for the hop!
Juliana www.17turtles.com

This month I decided to create a layout to share and it did some serious Stash Busting!
While the papers and stickers are all older, here's my favorite part: the sunburst cut file and the word "sunshine" are both cut files that I had cut out and not used and had laying around.  Perfect for stash busting right!  Because of the bright and busy papers I decided to keep things pretty simple.  I outlined just about everything with black pen to make it pop more.  I added simple embellishments like enamel dots and cork stickers.  All of it helps to pull the eye into the middle and focus on the pictures of my little outdoors boy!

Supplies Used:
Patterned Papers: Doodlebug
Stickers: Studio Calico, Carta Bella, Bella Blvd

Father's Day Shaped Card

I'm a huge fan of shaped cards and with a little playing you can create a shaped card out of nearly any shape you want.  Today I am going to share a fun sunglasses shaped card that I shared over on the Core'dinations blog today too!
Fathers-Day-Card-31
"My Dad Rocks" Sunglasses Card Supplies:
Step 1: Use an electronic cutting machine to cut out a sunglasses card.  To make a shape into a card you should: Mirror the image above the original and then weld the top edges together.
Technique Tip: Core'dinations cardstock cuts beautifully on the Silhouette Cameo. If you notice in my picture below my edges are a little rough!  To avoid that make sure to do the following settings: Set your blade at 4 (I had it set at 2 here before I realized it was too late), your speed at 3, thickness at 33, and set it to Double-Cut.  This will give you a clean cut.  But if you goof up like me and forget to change your blade to the right setting, a little sanding with our Sand-it Gadget will take care of the rough edges!

Fathers Day Card 1
Step 2: Use the lens space to trace and cut out some lenses on the Metallic Silver paper.  Cut them out and emboss them.

Fathers Day Card 2
Step 3: Add the lenses to the card and attach a sentiment at the top.  I used this cut file for my sentiment.

Fathers Day Card 4

Step 4:  Add some finishing touches, a couple of stars, some white outlining, and you are done!

Fathers-Day-Card-3

It's all ready to add a fun message inside to Dad!

DIY Home State Vinyl Decor

This has to be one of my favorite projects that I have done in awhile!  Using some awesome SRM Stickers vinyl I created this one of a kind home decor piece.  I love how vinyl allows us to personalize home decor and SRM has such a fabulous selection, it makes it easy to make it work for your home.  My husband and I get asked all the time "Where are you from?" because we are not native to the area we currently live.  Between the two of us we have lived in 9 different states, either together or growing up!  So I thought it would be neat to make a piece that shows our "homes."

I created a one of a kind Silhouette cut file to make my heart.

I first made a big heart and then added each of the states that we have called home, either individually or together.  It was interesting to puzzle piece those together but it totally worked!  I then filled in some of the holes with hearts.  I cut this out using the Glitter Vinyl in Cherry Red for this step.

I then cut out my quote in Matte White.  Now this whole thing would have been a pain to put together if not for Transfer Tape. Transfer Tape ensures you have accurate measurements for placement and keeps the whole process from being a mess!

Have any of you lived in a bunch of these states too?  It's a pretty unique combination!  We've got the middle of the country down though!

Published Layout from Create Magazine

This month Paper House Productions is the featured manufacturer in Create Magazine!  The design team all contributed a couple of projects and today I am going to share one with you!  I used the Noir ColorWays line for my projects.  First up is a 2 page layout based on a sketch from the magazine:

Metallic gold is used in the accents of this line so I stuck with that as my added color!  I used a little bit of gold foil cardstock from Core'dinations to create my "Fun" title.

The variety of embellishments available with this line is so fun!

You can see the die cut pieces from the Accent Pack here and also Puffy Stickers and Rub-ons!  Love all the texture that adds!

This page uses more of the same embellishments and a variety of patterned papers too!  I also added in some gold outlining in a few spots to help make the patterns pop a little more!

I love the brush style script that the puffy words come in for this - super trendy!

I'll be back later in the week to share my other project but in the meantime - head over to the magazine and check it out!  It's free and full of inspiration!

Disneyland Princess Layout

I have been wanting to try string art with SRM's twine for awhile now.  When I was thinking about doing a Disney layout I thought it could be really neat on mouse ears!  So I set out for a somewhat time intensive project - string art, on a layout. I think it was totally worth it and today I am going to share it with you!

SRM Stickers has a wide variety of twine available and for this one I used the Gold Shimmer Bakers Twine.  I used a bigger needle so it was easier to thread.  I poked holes all around the outside of the mouse ears and did a backstitch around the entire border.  I then used select holes to do the string art just going from one area to the next.  There wasn't a rhyme or reason to it - I just tried to stay balanced so there was twine evenly spread throughout!

I also incorporated SRM Stickers in the layout!  The "Happily Ever After" borders come from the We've Got Your Sticker/Forever stickers set - I thought they made a perfect border! The "Make a Wish" sticker from the We've Got Your Sticker/Happy set was a perfect subtle addition to my title.

I also added the Wish sticker from the We've Got Your Sticker/Happy right over a die cut piece to make it fit my occasion even better!

Supplies Used:
Patterned Paper: Simple Stories
Stickers: SRM Stickers
Chipboard: Simple Stories
Die Cuts: Simple Stories

Paper House Prodctions ColorWays Grid Layout

There are so many exciting things happening at Paper House Productions this week!

First off they are officially launching the ColorWays line with a full week of inspiration and a huge Giveaways!  You will definitely want to keep an eye on there blog and facebook page for all the sales and giveaways!

Second they are the featured manufacturer in the newest edition of Create Magazine!  I have been a fan of that magazine from the beginning and have been published in there multiple times!  I have two projects in there and will be sharing those later in the week!  Today I have a layout on the Paper House Productions blog that features the ColorWays Sapphire Collection!
Because there are so many beautiful patterned papers in this collection I decided to do a grid layout and showcase a bunch of them!  And the picture of the little guy in the blue shirt was just a perfect match so I built from there!

This line also has Rub-ons, die cut accent pieces, and puffy stickers!  You can see I incorporated all three around my main picture!  I love how that allows you to mix up the texture and dimension!

I mixed and matched in the subtitle too!  I also added some of my SRM Sticker Stitches to add a little extra interest throughout!  Those work awesome when you don't want to actually stitch!

Bookworm Layout

It's not Tuesday but I am going to share with you a layout for Treasure This Time anyway because tomorrow I have some other special projects to share!  Each week I try to focus on a little, and soon forgotten memory, of my child at this age.  Having four of them, I felt like I was forgetting a lot of the little fun things!  So this week I am focused on my 11 year old, Timmy!

Timmy has recently developed a love of reading and so I decided to focus this week on how much he loves to read.  It makes me so happy that he finally loves to read!  The things he loves most are Humorous Comic Style books (Diary of a Wimpy kid style), Athlete biographies, and anything by Mike Lupica.  He also is enjoying age appropriate historical fiction and wants to read more from the World War II time period.

I took these pictures of him this past weekend and then added them to the polaroid cardstock frame.  I then cut out circles in coordinating colors and played off of those for my design.  Most of the supplies for this come from the My Creative Scrapbook April Main Kit.  I was inspired by a recent feature on the American Crafts blog where they did handcut letters.  I was intrigued and terrified at the same time, but I think playing like that can really help get the creative juices going, so I gave it a whirl!  It actually was kind of fun!

I outlined my letters in black to make them pop a little more and to cover up any pencil lines that were left over :) I've still got a little more of this kit left over and am looking forward to playing with it a bit more!

Things I do Daily Layout & Sketch

I'm early this month with my "All About Me" layout! This month I decided to create one about things that I do Every Day (or really close to it)!  This is definitely something that changes with the seasons of life so I thought it would be fun to look back at down the road!  I also have made a sketch for you today!  I know, it's been awhile!  Make sure to share it with me on my facebook page if you make anything with it!

Now on to the layout!
I thought it would be fun to title the layout "To Be Continued" because many of these things will be continued daily, in my life, indefinitely!  I got to use the April Main Kit from My Creative Scrapbook which features lots of Amy Tan goodies from American Crafts.  I always have loved Amy Tan's doodles and used the ones already built in to the products and added some of my own too!

My list is handwritten.  I tend to do handwritten journaling because I can't count on my printer working AND it adds that personal touch!  It's definitely not because I love my writing :)
So here's the real world of Christine on a daily basis: Devotions, Drink Coffee (two years ago this would have said soda - pretty far about how far I have come on that bad habit), Make Dinner, Text (how did stay-at-home mom's stay sane without texting???), Blog (if not for my own, then for manufacturers that I design for), Edit Pictures (and I am learning lightroom so I have been doing a lot of this), Check Homework (unless it's English grammar stuff, then it goes to my hubby!), Use Young Living Oils (love 'em, wouldn't want to be without them), Facebook (again how did mom's stay sane before this social connection???), Instagram (this is my own little scrapbooking world - I don't use it for much else and I LOVE it!), Change diapers (hopefully this will change in the next year :)), Read to kids (Little Bear and Peppa Pig rule this house right now), Scrapbook (of course!!!), Clean (something, constantly, always...not a neat freak but I work hard to keep up), Laundry (too much), and Pray!

Supplies Used:
Stickers: American Crafts
Kit: My Creative Scrapbook
Enamel Dots: Recollections

I think an upcoming month I will do one on things I do Every Week because this was super fun!  Hope y'all are having a great weekend!

Hello Spring - My Creative Scrapbook Layout

I thought Mother's Day was the perfect day to share my last layout from My Creative Scrapbook this month.  Why!?! Because it has all four of my kiddos on it!  For this layout I really played with all the elements in the kit including a lot of embellishments and patterned papers!
The pictures are about two years old so I was glad to finally give them a home! I knew I waned to use the stripes of patterned paper down the middle and just built from there.  The pictures had homes and then I built clusters and banners around them.  I love the banner stickers and the way they add both color and a linear element keeping with the pictures and stripes :)

One of the very best things about this kit is that it includes brads and chipboard.  I love all the extra texture and dimension these add to the already fun stickers and papers.  I also love that the colors work well for boy and girl pages!

If you haven't had a chance to order your kit yet this month - hop over to My Creative Scrapbook and snag one before they are gone!

I hope all you moms out there have had a wonderful day celebrating or relaxing (or both!)

Hello Sunshine - a Rainbow Layout

As I have mentioned earlier this week, the colors in this month's Creative Kit from My Creative Scrapbook are just awesome!  I had so much fun focusing in on how I could use the colors in a variety of ways.  Today I used them to create a rainbow effect on the layout!
I will have a full process tutorial coming up soon on the My Creative Scrapbook Blog so I am not going to talk too much about that today!  I do love how perfectly all the stickers and embellishments come together on this to help focus the eyes in on the picture.  I also added in some of my own personal doodling  to reinforce the scallops and add some extra interest into the whole thing!

I will be back tomorrow to share a layout with all four of my kiddos on it!  Perfect for Mother's Day!

Sunny Smiles Card

Sometimes as I am playing around inspiration strikes.  As I was playing around with my Punched Pieces from SRM Stickers and dreaming of warm weather I had the idea to use them to make a Sunshine! Have you noticed I am really into hand stitching right now?  And sunshines?  I definitely am :)
To start I did a whole bunch of mist splatters in bright colors. I've been noticing the splatters technique really retrending, not sure it ever went away completely, but it's definitely gaining strength again! Then I layered the three sizes of Punched Pieces: Large, Medium, and Small putting some foam adhesive between them.  I then added a sticker from the Sentiment/Summer set right to the center of the sun.

Adding stitching for my rays brought in some fun texture and didn't take long at all!  I then topped the whole card off with some wood clouds and enamel dots/hearts.

Hope your spring is off to a Sunny start full of Smiles!

You Are My Sunshine Layout

Ever since I got my hands on the various pieces from the Party Mixers line from Core'dinations, there has been no turning back. Today I am going to showyou how I incorporated them into a layout!
You Are My Sunshine Core'dinations Layout
Supplies Used:
Layout Supply List Sun

Step 1: Cut your title out using a cut file (You Are My Sunshine) and use the negative space of your white cardstock.  Back it with different cardstocks from the Brights paper pad.  Matte your picture and also add that to the base.
Technique Tip: Core'dinations cardstock cuts great on the Silhouette Cameo.  Set your blade at 4, speed at 3, thickness at 33, and set it to double cut.  That has worked every time for me - even with the textured cardstock!
Layout Closeup 1

Step 2: Start layering Paper Pops to create interest behind and around the picture.  Top with a Rosette that you will turn into a sunshine.  You can use foam adhesive behind some of them and outline the pops or  with black if you want to add some extra pop them!
Layout Closeup 2

Step 3: Do long stitches from the sun outward to look like sun rays.
Layout Closeup 3

Step 4: Add a tag under the picture, fabric tape to the top and bottom of the layout, and enamel dots throughout as your finishing touch.

Summertime Layout & Giveaway Winner

Creating summer and spring layouts is always so much fun because of all the vibrant colors.  This month's Creative Kit from My Creative Scrapbook is full of those great colors!  Today's layout focuses on the colors and embellishments with a monochromatic feel.
I created a grid using four different monochromatic papers as a base.  I then added the picture I wanted into each one.  I used a one inch punch to add circles in the same patterned paper but then also added a splash of another color as well.  I then went thru and added coordinating stickers, chipboard and brads. I also added some black outlining to make things pop more.

I think the yellow box is my favorite :) I have a thing for Sunshines lately!

Now on to the Giveaway Winner!
Thanks so much to all of you entered the giveaway for the Paper House Production 3D stickers - the winner is Lissa Crane! Please email me at practicalscrappers@gmail.com and I will get your stickers sent off!

Treasure This Time Tuesday & My Creative Scrapbook Kit Reveal!

It's going to be a busy week here at Scrapping with Christine - I have lots of fun projects coming your way!  On Tuesdays I try to focus on a layout that tells a small memory about my kids and who they are right now and I call it "Treasure This Time Tuesday".  I have always said it's easy to focus on the big events - but it's the little moments that I want to remember.  That is my goal for Tuesdays (at least as many of them as I can get it done on!)

As I worked on my kit projects for My Creative Scrapbook this month, I knew the reveal day would fall on Tuesday!  So I made sure to have a layout that fit my "Treasure This Time Tuesday" theme! It was Bo's turn in the cycle so here he is being Bo.
My rule is that I have to use a picture from that month of the child. I did not however have one of Bo that worked well with my papers in the kit - so it was the perfect chance to take his picture!  We shot these last week in one of his moments of 2 year old cooperation.  My focus on this layout is that he LOVES to be outside!  Being spring in Illinois, it's not always great weather for being outside.  On those days when it's not, he looks out the window and stands at the doors and  says "Bozer wants to go outsiiiiiiiiide."  And if he can find any way to sneak out, he will, so I have to keep a very close eye on doors being locked and shut tight!

The Creative Kit from My Creative Scrapbook this month contains pieces from the Echo Park Line "Sunny Days Ahead" and is full of goodies that are perfect for spring and summer. I love that it combines both seasons as there is definitely some overlap.  There are all kinds of fun papers, great stickers, chipboard pieces, and brads!

After creating my background of just a diamond shape, I added the center piece that is also usable for a pocket page piece.  I then hand stitched colorful rays coming out of it.  It mimics the look of sunshine but adds in some extra color.  I used stickers, chipboard, and brads in a diagonal line running from one corner up to the opposite one.  I then used little letters from the kit to add in the words that Bo says so often.

I will be back to share more layouts over the next several days but in the meantime you can check out the entire design team gallery on the website anytime!

All About Me - Favorite Foods

Happy (Inter)National Scrapbooking Day!  I hope you are able to squeeze in a little creative time!  I am running a bit late on my late about myself for the month of April!  For the record, I did finish it the last day of April :)  For this month's focus I decided to talk about foods that I love.  I based my layout on a sketch from My Scraps & More that I liked:

I flipped the sketch and here's what I came up with!
As you can tell I added a lot to the sketch :) I tend to do that!  I'm still struggling with the topic of creating about myself but this one was kind of fun.  I have compiled a really strange list of my favorite foods.

I cut banners out of the patterned paper and did my list that way. I tried to print but my printer was not cooperating (it never is).  I like the way these ended up bordering the layers anyway!

Supplies Used:
Patterned Paper: Pebbles Inc
Stickers; Pebbles Inc, Echo Park, American Crafts, SRM Stickers
Wood: Studio Calico
